About a week ago Josh accepted a new job in Los Angeles. Since neither of us has been west of Chicago, we decided to make the long journey from Pennsylvania to Southern California……
Day 1. We start out in the lovely town (town? I don’t know) of Richfield, Pennsylvania.

We started out at night and drove to Wheeling, West Virginia. Nothing too exciting happening there, besides Josh’s bikes not cooperating with the new car and bike rack. He had to adjust them several times and it cost us some time. So did getting his 14th speeding ticket. Unfortunately, I did not get a picture with the officer (sorry Mom…)

Although I’d never been to Ohio before, turns out it looks a lot like Central Pennsylvania. With more state troopers.

It turns out that I70 is pretty boring until St. Louis (side view of the arch here). I slept a lot, attempted to people watch, and found the 90s station on the XM radio while Josh was sleeping.

I gave up my driving privileges after St. Louis and the fight that ensued during rush hour. After stopping at the BP gas station/bait supply/liquor store all in one, I’ realized I need to start bringing my camera inside the gas stations. We also saw about 1000 signs for the “Secret Jesse James hideout” and the “Jesse James Wax Museum” but in all honesty, we were too busy rocking out to 90s jams to photograph such events for our friends. Sorry for partying.
Tonight we’re in Springfield, Missouri….right next to the SIFE headquarters (Josh was a little too excited to see that). We both just made instant oatmeal using the coffee maker. My college education is finally starting to pay off.
Total miles driven: 1017+ however many it was when we got lost in St. Louis.

Hello young lady!!
I wish I had known you were going thru St Louie, I could have forwarned you on getting lost in giant circles which is why I’m allowed to rent cars with GPS (I got lost w/Fred B a couple times!)
If you had taken I80 I would have told you to stop at Iowa 80, the US’s largest truck stop
Carry on o wayward child!
