This weekend (if my flight stops being delayed), I’m headed to the fabulous city of Chicago to see this guy:

josh10

On Sunday, August 30th, Josh is competing in the Chicago Triathlon benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Joined together through Team in Training, he and his teammates have raised over $180,000 to help find a cure for Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma.

This should be a great weekend. Josh has been training for this event for almost a year, through two moves and one job change. I can’t even tell you how exciting it is to see someone reach a goal they have worked so hard at for so long, and for a great cause.

Do I do triathlons too? Absolutely not. I sleep when he gets up to run or go on 50 mile bike rides at 6am on Sundays. Sometimes I have breakfast waiting. I prefer the chef/personal photographer role to anything else. He probably likes it that way too.
Will you be in Chicago this weekend? It’s going to be a beautiful weekend, so get outside and come hang out with me at the race course!

I won Battle 10 of Foodie Fights!!

First off, thanks to Nick and Dan for allowing me to participate in the challenge. Second, thanks to everyone who voted for me and to my friends who endured my cooking, whining, and tantrums throughout my recipe development process.

This week, Nick and Dan inivited me to participate in Battle 10 of Foodie Fights. I’ll be honest, I was a little scared of this challenge. I know, the ingredients were pretty standard. But I can’t bake (except for banana bread), I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, so I rarely ever cook with peaches (they normally go from farmers market to mouth).

After a little bit of hyperventilating (they did announce the challenge at 8am, before I started drinking my morning coffee), it was decided that I would make a sweet-savory dish with two things I cook with often (and love): cheese and bacon.
